How To Recover From A Concussion Faster And Get Back To What You Love

After a concussion, it can be very difficult to find your footing again, for not just yourself but also those around you.

If you are recovering from a car accident, sporting injury, or a fall you’re most likely experiencing some of the following symptoms; Nausea, brain fog, memory loss, headaches, and struggle focusing. All these symptoms make it increasingly difficult to focus on your recovery, meaning you’re less likely to recover quickly.

This blog aims to teach you how to best respond after a concussion, the best form of treatment, and how to recover from a concussion faster!

How To Tell If You Have A Concussion

One of the most common symptoms of a concussion is headaches, if you feel like you’ve got a persistent headache that won’t go away, it’s important to get checked out by a medical professional.

It’s not always easy to tell when you may have a concussion, but if you’re experiencing nausea or vomiting along with a headache, this can be a sign that something is wrong.

If you’re unusually sensitive to light and sound, this could also be an indication that you have a concussion. It’s important to not expose yourself to too much stimulation until you get checked out by a professional.

If you’re constantly feeling dizzy or lightheaded, this could also be a sign of a concussion.

If you’re struggling with any of these symptoms, you must seek medical advice right away!

How Long Does A Concussion Last?

When it comes to concussions, how long they can last is an incredibly important question. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

Everyone’s brain is different, which means that the length of recovery can vary significantly from person to person.

Typically, most people with a mild concussion will recover in 7-10 days, but it’s not unheard of for symptoms to last anywhere from a few days to several weeks.

Severe concussions may take up to 4 weeks or longer to recover from, depending on the individual.

When dealing with constant headaches, brain fog, and memory loss we appreciate how frustrating it can be to just wait for your condition to improve.

How To Recover From A Concussion Faster?

Concussions can be scary and overwhelming, often making it difficult to return to your normal life and keep up with your favorite activities.

However, with the right care and advice, you can recover from a concussion faster and get back to what you love.

Eat A Balanced Diet

A balanced diet can be a game-changer when it comes to recovering from a concussion.

Providing your body with essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients not only supports overall health but also aids in faster recovery.

Fruits and vegetables are packed full of antioxidants which help reduce brain swelling and aid in healing. Berries, leafy greens, and citrus fruits are all excellent choices.

Protein is the building block of new cells and is essential for the repair and growth of tissues. Opt for lean proteins like chicken, turkey, fish, and eggs.

Dairy products are a great source of calcium and vitamin D, both important for bone health. While recovering from a concussion, it’s important to maintain overall health and strength.

Low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese can provide these essential nutrients without the excess fat and calories.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration plays a significant role in concussion recovery.

Dehydration can exacerbate the symptoms of a concussion, making you feel worse and potentially slowing down the healing process.

Our brain is around 75% water and even slight dehydration can affect its function. It can lead to headaches, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating – symptoms that are already associated with concussions.

By staying properly hydrated, you’re helping to alleviate these symptoms and create the right conditions for your brain to recover.

You can also opt for drinks with electrolytes, such as coconut water, which can help replenish lost salts in your body and maintain fluid balance.

Avoid drinks that can dehydrate you, like alcohol and caffeine, as they may worsen your symptoms and delay your recovery.
